This rare opal was found at Lightning Ridge, the home of the famous black opal.  Stones like this come from the hot dusty outback of Australia.  The old opal miners found them with just a pick, a shovel and a leather bucket. They lived on rabbits and tinned beef and carried their water for miles to the opal mines.

On this site you will get to know opals  and be taken to places where tourists rarely venture. You will meet some of the people who live there today, and some of the old folks who pioneered the opal industry. You will see how they live and what they do to find this most precious gem.

You will be introduced to gemstones that are so unique that many are one of a kind in the world. You will see how these amazing wonders of nature are married to precious metal to create works of art that are unique pieces of  opal jewelry.  It is our wish that you will enjoy your visit, whether it’s to buy something for yourself, or a friend, or just to visit this sun burnt country and enjoy the journey . Whatever is the case, thank you for visiting our site.

If you have any little kids in the family, or someone who likes collecting rocks and things, let us know when you order, so that we can include a small opal specimen for their collection.

You will be pleased to know as well that everything over $100 is freight free even the insurance is included so there is no extra expense on top of what you buy. And if for some reason it has to be returned, please keep the gifts we always include as a little bonus to say thanks for visiting our site and getting to know us. Even if we lose a sale, we know that you will recommend us to your friends and this is enough reward for us.
